“The kitchen furniture industry that grew by 11% in 2011 is promising.”

According to the data of Kitchen and Bathroom Furniture Industrialists and Importers Association (MUDER), kitchen furniture industry grew by 11% in 2011.

Chairman of MUDER Board of Directors, Seyfi Ayaskan, who made a statement on the subject, said that the industry that was on decline in 2010 recovered in 2011 and reached 825 thousand pieces and a market size of 1 billion 800 million Turkish Liras with a growth of 11 percent.

Pointing out that the ratio of renovation market share caused by the renewal of the old kitchens in existing houses is 40 percent within the growth of 11 percent in 2011, Ayaskan stated that although the period for kitchen renewal was 15-20 years previously in Turkey, the young population will change their kitchens in shorter intervals such as 12-15 years in parallel with the increase in their income level.  

Ayaskan reminded that Turkish economy achieved a growth of 8,2 in the first 9 months of 2011, its growth rate is expected to be 7-7,5 percent annually although the annual figures have not been disclosed yet, house sales increased by 21,6 percent in the first nine months of 2011 compared to the previous year after the significant fall in 2010 and these had positive effects on the industry.

- Need for More Employment -

Chairman of MUDER Board of Directors, Ayaskan said that it has been declared that 7 to 9 million of the 19 million housing stock in Turkey will be pulled down and built again in 10 years within the scope of urban transformation projects, and added “It is beyond doubt in parallel with all these economic developments that our industry will experience much higher growth rates in the coming period and will serve a larger domestic market with more employment needs.”

Saying “That Turkey’s significant market purchasing power of 75 million and location which acts as a bridge between Asia and Europe and gives transport and logistics advantages to us are opportunities to be considered.” Ayaskan recorded that he believes that Turkey will have a say in the international markets if it can seize these opportunities by taking the government support, it can use the young population superiority that brings high capacity production and labor cost advantage well and it can make good use of its competitive opportunities in foreign markets.

- KITCHEN WORLD 2012 Fair Will Create New Employment Opportunities -

Stating that 2012 will be a good year for furniture industry in parallel with the developments in the economy in 2012, and they are preparing for a big trade fair in March 2012 as the industry, Ayaskan said “The fair that we organize for the eight time this year is the biggest and most comprehensive kitchen furniture and built-in appliances fair of the region. This year, we aimed to raise to voice of our industry to a larger area at the fair. Therefore, along with the domestic purchasers and visitors, we will host many trade delegations from abroad with the coordination of Ministry of Economy and will bring international manufacturers together with Turkish manufacturers”, and completed his statement as follows;

“Unlike other fairs, the fair where built-in appliances equipped with the latest technology that will ease your life will be presented as well as the latest designs in kitchen furniture, hundreds of kitchen products such as sinks, stove hoods, counters, and faucets; will create new horizons and employment opportunities not only for kitchen buyers but also for architects, designers, potential dealers who want to enter into the industry, and architecture and design students.”
